I definitely agree with this. The chat feature really does need some sort of sound notification or even a visual notification when a friend logs on. If this were implemented I believe the chat function of facebook would be used much more. Many people we have found don't use the chat feature because they didn't even know it existed. If you present notification pop-ups or something when someone logs on then people would see them and possibly engage in conversation.
If we went with the visual pop-up style notification it would probably have to be somewhat small so that the users don't get too annoyed with the pop-ups coming every time someone logs on. Maybe you could add certain people to a list and only when those people come online THEN you would get a notification.

Everything looks good from what I can see. I like the idea of being able to include pictures and such into the chat feature.

I like the idea here by putting some new functions on the original/current facebook chat layout such as, font settings, file shares, and chat options. In my opinion, I think it's better to put more features (emoticon, background settings, etc.) since it still has a lot of empty space in the chat window.

actually if you havent clicked the "video call/conferrence" those 2 windows on the right side of conversation box wont appear. The small webcam icon is just the video settings/configuration button to adjust your video resolution (small, big, or medium size) and you can mute it also if you dont want to hear the sounds (video only)

Agreed on the use of emoticons. I do like the general layout, though I think the video window could be a bit more prominent. Is that what the 2 boxes are used for at the middle/right? One thing to consider is, how exactly would the video/conference call button behave in relation to those windows?

I really like the button placement in the toolbar above the chat window. The icons are not very self explanatory if you have never used an instant messaging service, but the layout does not allow for simple mistakes like blocking someone when trying to add them to your buddy list. I also really really like that you added emoticons as a default button for the chat. I didn't even think of how users would want to display tone in text chat. Great job leo i really like the sketch!

The layout for your sketch is really nice. I like how you incorporated specific buttons for video chat, especially the ‘voice’ button. I did not even think of being able to manipulate how loud or soft a user’s voice could be. Also, I like the concept of being able to collapse the video chat if it is not being used.

I really like your sketch. All information is clear. Only one tutorial setting is missing here. It would be great for facebook user to know how to use it. =) Great job.
